About Us

Serving Northern Colorado Since 2010

Black Pearl Asphalt was established in May of 2010 by our founders Matt & Julie Payeur, and their business partners. With over 30 years of experience between them, they hit the ground running, focused on servicing Northern Colorado's asphalt needs. More than a decade later, the company is now owned and operated by Julie Payeur, with help from her family.

We can be found working alongside local companies and residents of Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Greeley, Windsor, Timnath, Laporte, and Wellington and all the surrounding areas of Northern Colorado. â€‹â€‹

Meet Our Staff

Julie Payeur

Company President

Julie takes pride in ensuring the clients, vendors, and employees of Black Pearl Asphalt are treated promptly and with respect.

With 20+ years of experience in the asphalt business, Julie is typically the first point of contact for clients. She takes information, answers questions, and passes details on to our estimator. Occasionally, she'll step out from behind the desk to take measurements and meet with customers herself.

Outside the office, Julie enjoys exercising, particularly dancing, spending time with her family and friends, and helping with local charities and functions. Having raised five children to adulthood, Julie now spends her time outside of work spoiling her grandchildren and enjoying her country home.

Estimator

Julian hits the pavement to ensure we have the exact information we need to provide quality service at the right price.

With a history of experience on an asphalt crew, as well as a manager, Julian has stepped into big shoes to bring our customers accurate quotes and advise on the best work to accomplish their goals.

A father of three, Julian spends most of his time outside of work with his kids. He enjoys making art in his free time, playing games both alone and with family, and perfecting his braiding skills on himself and his youngest daughter.

Rachelle Payeur

Office Manager and Artistic Lead

Rachelle does most of the behind-the-scenes work for Black Pearl Asphalt. From organizing files and paperwork, to building and maintaining our website, Rachelle puts her flexible skillset to good use.

As Matt & Julie's oldest daughter, Rachelle has been involved with working for Black Pearl on and off since 2015. For the last five years, Rachelle has ramped up her involvement with the company. She now runs the office and artistic sides of the company.

Rachelle's background is varied. Originally attending school for Film and Video production, she has worked as a broadcast director for several news stations, a live-event videographer, and worked on several independent video projects like short films and commercials. After 2020, she made the switch to business, studying Economics locally at Colorado State University and abroad at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan.

In Loving Memory of Our Founder

Matt Payeur

(1962-2021)

Matthew Payeur loved living and working in Colorado. An avid fan of nature and the outdoors, he sought to preserve the beauty of this colorful mountain state. He passed away in September of 2021, leaving behind his wife Julie and their five children. Following his passing, his family has continued to carry on his legacy in both the asphalt business and beyond.
